Tampa, FL – CONSTRUCTION STARTS ON THE EAST END OF GANDY BOULEVARD

Today, June 21, 2018 there will be intermittent lane closures from 9 pm to 6 am to allow Selmon Extension crews to restripe the roadway eastbound Gandy Boulevard between Church Street and S. Dale Mabry Highway, weather permitting.

Beginning Monday, June 25, 2018 through Friday, June 29, 2018 there will be intermittent lane closures from 9pm to 6am to allow crews to start work in the median and the outside lane of Gandy Boulevard.  Crews will close the sidewalk on eastbound Gandy Boulevard between Lois Avenue and S. Dale Mabry. Pedestrians wanting to access Lois Avenue from S. Dale Mabry will have to use the crosswalk to west Gandy Boulevard and access the sidewalk. Detour signs will be posted to alert pedestrians. Graphics are included to show the detour.

In addition, starting Monday, June 25, 2018 through Friday, June 29, 2018 crews will conduct a shoulder closure on the Selmon Expressway on-ramp from eastbound Gandy Boulevard from 7pm – 6am for the removal of roots and stumps, excavation and erosion control to prepare for the construction and maintenance of the highway and for the safety of the traveling public.  Drivers are urged to use caution while workers are present in this area.

As a reminder, one lane on both eastbound and westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge will be closed each night between 9 pm and 6 am to allow crews to complete roadway widening activities in the area.  There may be intermittent nighttime lane closures throughout the project limits to conduct utility relocation work, geotechnical investigations and excavation work along Gandy Boulevard during this timeframe.

TECO will continue intermittent daytime lane closures from 9 am to 3 pm to allow them to conduct utility work along the project limits.

In an effort to keep the construction crews and the traveling public safe, we want to remind motorists that the posted construction speed limit is 45 miles an hour. Speed enforcement will be in place in the signed construction zones. The fine for speeding in a construction zone is double the amount of a regular ticket.
