Tampa, FL – ACCIDENT NEAR BRIDGE STREET

The inside left turn lane on Westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge is currently closed due to an earlier accident.  Emergency personnel are currently on the scene.  Crews are cleaning up the area as quickly as possible.  Slowdowns are possible for both Westbound and Gandy Boulevard, so please allow a little extra time and have patience.

In an effort to keep the construction crews, and the traveling public safe, we want to remind motorists that the posted construction speed limit is 45 miles an hour.  Enforced speed enforcement will be in place in the signed construction zones. Tampa, FL – NIGHT TIME WORK CONTINUES NEAR BRIDGE STREET

One lane on both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge will be closed each night through Saturday, March 31, 2018.  The lanes will close from 9 pm to 6 am to allow crews to complete roadway widening activities in the area.

In addition there may be intermittent night time lane closures throughout the project limits to conduct utility relocation work, excavation work and roadway restriping along Gandy Boulevard during this timeframe.  Through travel lanes will remain open during day time hours.

Please be reminded that both the Gandy Park South on the south side of Gandy Boulevard and the Al Palonis Park on the north side of Gandy Boulevard are closed for the duration of the Selmon Extension construction. The Gandy Boat ramp will remain open. Thank you for your patience and understanding during our Gandy Boulevard improvements.

Tampa, FL – Southbound Selmon Extension to Eastbound Gandy Blvd. Ramp to be Temporarily Closed March 21, 2018

Motorists traveling Southbound on the Selmon Extension can expect the Eastbound Gandy Boulevard off ramp to be temporarily closed beginning Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 8 pm.  The temporary closure is needed to allow Contractor’s to repair guardrail on the ramp.  The closure will be in place for a few hours.

In an effort to keep the construction crews, and the traveling public safe, we want to remind motorists that the posted construction speed limit is 45 miles an hour.  Enforced speed enforcement will be in place in the signed construction zones. Tampa, FL – TRAFFIC SWITCH STARTING AT BRIDGE STREET

Motorists traveling Eastbound Gandy Boulevard near Bridge Street will be driving on a new temporary road surface Friday, March 16, 2018 at 9 pm, as construction pushes ahead for the Selmon Extension project.  The traffic switch will remain in place through the spring to allow contractors to complete the phased roadway construction along the west end of Gandy Boulevard.

One lane on both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge continue to be closed through Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9 pm to 6 am to allow crews to complete roadway widening activities in the area.

Tampa, FL – NIGHT TIME INSTALLATION OF THE FOURTH SELMON EXTENSION TEST SHAFT

Beginning Sunday, February 18, 2018 through Friday, February 23, 2018 from 9 pm to 6 am the Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard inside lanes east of Church Avenue will be closed to allow Contractors to install the fourth Selmon Extension test shaft. There will be minor traffic disruptions for motorists and noise will be kept to a minimum during these night time operations.

Also beginning Sunday, February 18, 2018 through Friday, February 23, 2018 from 9 pm to 6 am the Northbound SR 618 (Selmon Expressway) Dale Mabry Highway inside lane near the exit ramp will be closed for geotechnical work.  In addition, during this time, short intermittent lane closures may occur along the Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard inside lanes to allow contractors to complete roadway widening, utility locates and other work in the area.

Other construction activities that will not impact traffic include relocating utility poles, installing low profile barrier walls, excavation and erosion control to prepare for the construction and maintenance of the highway and for the safety of the traveling public.  Please be reminded that both the Gandy Park South on the south side of Gandy Boulevard and the Al Palonis Park on the north side of Gandy Boulevard are closed for the duration of the Selmon Extension construction. Beginning Sunday, February 11, 2018 through Friday, February 16, 2018 from 9 pm to 6 am the Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard inside left turn lanes at Manhattan Avenue will be closed for geotechnical exploration.  Crews are currently installing the second test shaft that will serve as a basis for what will eventually be incorporated in the permanent piers. There will be minor traffic disruptions for motorists and noise will be kept to a minimum during these night time operations.

In addition, during this time, short intermittent lane closures may occur along Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard to allow contractors to complete roadway widening, utility locates and other work in the area.  Other construction activities that will not impact traffic include relocating utility poles, the removal of roots and stumps, excavation and erosion control to prepare for the construction and maintenance of the highway and for the safety of the traveling public.
