Tampa, FL – Construction Activities July 1 – July 7

No construction activity will take place on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018 and Monday, July 2, 2018 traffic on eastbound Gandy Boulevard between Lois Avenue and S. Dale Mabry will be reduced to one lane and the ramp to the Selmon Expressway will be closed from 7 pm – 6 am, weather permittng.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018, there will be intermittent lane closures from 9 pm – 6 am to allow crews to shift traffic to its permanent location along westbound Gandy Boulevard (near the Gandy Bridge), weather permitting. Signs are posted to alert motorists about this upcoming traffic shift.

A new lane configuration has been implemented between eastbound Gandy Boulevard and Lois Avenue. The merge for motorists coming off the Selmon Expressway and those wanting to get on the Expressway has been greatly shortened.

Since this lane configuration will remain in place to during the construction of the Selmon Extension new ramps, to avoid congestion in this area during rush-hour traffic, we advise travelers to use the alternate route. Turn left (north) on Dale Mabry and access the Selmon Expressway ramp, located just behind Target.

The sidewalk remains closed on eastbound Gandy Boulevard between Lois Avenue and S. Dale Mabry. Pedestrians wanting to access Lois Avenue from S. Dale Mabry will have to use the crosswalk to west Gandy Boulevard and access the sidewalk. Detour signs will be posted to alert pedestrians. Graphics are included to show the detour.

TECO continues intermittent daytime lane closures from 9 am to 3 pm to allow crews to conduct utility work along the project limits.

One lane on both eastbound and westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge will be closed each night between 9 pm and 6 am to allow crews to complete roadway widening activities in the area.

There may be intermittent nighttime lane closures throughout the project limits to conduct utility relocation work, geotechnical investigations and excavation work along Gandy Boulevard during this timeframe.

In an effort to keep the construction crews and the traveling public safe, we want to remind motorists that the posted construction speed limit is 45 miles an hour. Speed enforcement will be in place in the signed construction zones. The fine for speeding in a construction zone is double the amount of a regular ticket.
