Tampa, FL – WIDENING CONTINUES NEAR THE GANDY BRIDGE

Motorists traveling Westbound Gandy Boulevard may have to drive across the Gandy Bridge and make a U-turn to travel back Eastbound Gandy Boulevard due to a temporary U-Turn closure that was in place before the Gandy Bridge.  The temporary U-Turn closure is a result of safety issues and will reopen once the area is adjusted.  Traffic officers are assisting motorists coming out of Culbreath Key and directing them to turn Eastbound on Gandy Boulevard.  We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, but safety of the traveling public is our number one priority.

One lane on both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge will be closed each night through Saturday, April 28, 2018.  The lanes will close from 9 pm to 6 am to allow crews to complete roadway widening activities in the area.

In addition there may be intermittent night time lane closures throughout the project limits to conduct utility relocation work, geotechnical investigations, curb and gutter removal in the median, excavation work, placing barrier wall and roadway restriping along Gandy Boulevard during this timeframe.  Through travel lanes will remain open during day time hours.

In an effort to keep the construction crews, and the traveling public safe, we want to remind motorists that the posted construction speed limit is 45 miles an hour.  Enforced speed enforcement will be in place in the signed construction zones. The fine for speeding in a construction zone is double the amount of a regular ticket.   For more information, call 813.613.2306 or email Mellisa@SelmonExtension.com.
