BLOG – Selmon Extension Construction Workers Take Extra Precautionary Measures to Remain Safe During COVID-19

While most Floridians have been ordered to stay home due to the COVID-19 order, thousands of construction workers who have been deemed “essential” remain on the job and are putting preventative measures in place and taking the necessary precautions to keep themselves safe during these difficult times.  The primary contractor, Kiewit, has implemented the following safety measures as work continues on the Selmon West Extension:

  • reduced or eliminated meetings and travel
  • implemented work-from-home and other social distancing policies
  • established more stringent personal and industrial hygiene practices including disinfecting all handheld equipment

Kiewit and the SWE Team are following government guidelines and consulting with industrial hygienists and medical experts to support the health of employees and others on the Selmon West Extension Project and in all of their other offices. There are currently more than 300 employees working on the construction project.

We are all working vigilantly to remain safe during this time.
