Tampa, FL – DAYTIME LANE CLOSURES ON GANDY BOULEVARD CONTINUE FOR UTILITY WORK

Beginning Monday, June 18, 2018 through Friday, June 22, 2018 there will be intermittent daytime lane closures from 9 am to 3 pm to allow TECO to conduct utility work along the project limits.

Also, one lane on both eastbound and westbound Gandy Boulevard between Westshore Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge will be closed each night between 9 pm and 6 am to allow crews to complete roadway widening activities in the area. There may be intermittent nighttime lane closures throughout the project limits to conduct utility relocation work, geotechnical investigations and excavation work along Gandy Boulevard during this timeframe.

In an effort to keep the construction crews and the traveling public safe, we want to remind motorists that the posted construction speed limit is 45 miles an hour. Speed enforcement will be in place in the signed construction zones. The fine for speeding in a construction zone is double the amount of a regular ticket.

Tampa, FL – Test Shafts Continue on Selmon Extension

Beginning Tuesday, January 2, 2018 through Friday, January 5, 2018 from 9 pm to 6 am both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard left thru lanes between Trask Street and Hesperides Street will be closed for geotechnical work.

Crews are working on four test shafts that will be serve as a basis for what will eventually be used to build the permanent piers. There will be minor traffic disruptions for motorists and noise will be kept to a minimum.

Please be reminded that both the Gandy Park South on the Southside of Gandy Boulevard and the Al Palonis Park on the north side of Gandy Boulevard are closed for the duration of the Selmon Extension construction. The Gandy Boat ramp will remain open. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 Tampa, FL – Geotechnical Boring extended through December 22, 2017

The Southbound Selmon Expressway (SR618) Dale Mabry Highway exit ramp right shoulder closure has been extended through Friday December 22, 2017 from 9 am to 5 pm to allow contractors to complete geotechnical boring in the area.  In addition, short intermittent lane closures may continue to occur along Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard through Friday, December 22 from 7 am to 6 pm to allow TECO to accurately locate utilities, again in preparation for the Selmon Extension.

A reminder that both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard left thru lanes between Westshore Boulevard and Bridge Street will be closed through Friday, December 22, 2017 from 9 pm to 6 am.

There will also be an Eastbound Gandy Boulevard left thru lane closure during this same time frame just east of S Church Avenue and west of Dale Mabry Highway.  There may be intermittent stop and go traffic queue restrictions both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard at the Bridge Street turn lanes at night.  Workers will be performing geotechnical work, installing barrier wall and installing temporary striping and signing.

Contractors will suspend work for the Selmon Extension Project beginning December 24, 2017 through January 2, 2018 in observance of the holidays.  There will be no impacts to the traveling public during this time.

Beginning Monday, December 18, 2017 through Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 9 am to 5 pm the Southbound SR 618 (Selmon Expressway) Dale Mabry Highway exit ramp right shoulder will be closed for geotechnical work.  In addition, there may be short intermittent temporary lane closures along Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard from Monday, December 18 through Friday, December 22 from 7 am to 6 pm to allow TECO to accurately locate utilities, again in preparation for the Selmon Extension.

Beginning Monday, December 11, 2017 through Friday, December 15, 2017 from 9 pm to 6 am both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard left thru lanes between Westshore Boulevard and near Bridge Street will be closed for geotechnical work.  There will also be an Eastbound Gandy Boulevard left thru lane closure during this same time frame just east of S Church Avenue and west of Dale Mabry Highway.  There may be intermittent stop and go traffic queue restrictions both Eastbound and Westbound Gandy Boulevard at the Bridge Street turn lanes at night.

Geotechnical work will continue next week on Gandy Boulevard to get a detailed picture of what lies beneath the surface to help plan for the construction of the Selmon Extension.  A geotechnical drill will be on site in order to gather soil information. There will be minor traffic disruptions for motorists and noise will be kept to a minimum.

Tampa, FL – Preconstruction Geotechnical Investigations for the Selmon Extension Project Continue

Monday, November 13, 2017 through Friday, November 17, 2017 workers will continue conducting preconstruction geotechnical investigations to determine soil conditions for the Selmon Extension Project.  There will be no daytime lane closures, however there may be intermittent stop and go traffic queue restrictions throughout the project limits. Work will be performed from 6 am until 9 pm.

Beginning Saturday, November 11, 2017 and Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 9 pm to 6 am the Westbound Gandy Boulevard inside lane between Westshore Boulevard and near Bridge Street will be closed for geotechnical work.
